About Funga

Funga is a public benefit corporation harnessing forest fungal networks to address the climate crisis. We combine modern DNA sequencing and machine learning technology with breakthrough research on the forest microbiome to put the right native, biodiverse communities of mycorrhizal fungi in the right place. This leads to more quality wood created more quickly, more carbon sequestered, and more resilient forests. We serve land partners seeking to implement regenerative forestry practices that improve productivity and sustainability, and corporate carbon buyers building high-quality carbon removal portfolios with strong social and biodiversity outcomes. We’re a team of passionate scientists and builders on a mission to draw down at least three gigatons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by 2050.

About the Role

Years of research and in-field trials have gone into developing this powerful technology for improving the health and performance of forestry projects, which are vital to addressing many of our current crises. We are in the middle of a climate crisis, and Funga can pull down tens-of-millions of tons additional CO2e every year. We are in a global shortage of timber and building materials, and Funga can accelerate the delivery of board-feet in a way that improves managed forest ecologies, rather than destroys them. The current extinction crisis has roots underground where sub-soil ecologies have been destroyed and homogenized. Funga aims to catalogue and restore foundational soil biodiversity. Global businesses and governments need high-quality carbon removal solutions to enable to emissions reduction and net zero goals. Funga is building a new class of sustainable, high-quality carbon removal with the potential to achieve enormous scale in the next five to ten years.

Delivering on this potential requires translating complex science and technology into meaningful business outcomes. We are looking for a strong product marketer with a track record of creating compelling and differentiated product narratives. This role will report to the Head of Business Strategy and Operations, and is a highly cross-functional role that requires close collaboration with company leadership as well as the Science and Marketing functions. The role will involve navigating the complex and rapidly evolving voluntary carbon markets. While experience in natural climate solutions is desired, more important is your excitement to implement new approaches, problem solve, and think creatively.

What You Will Do

  • Storyteller: Create compelling and differentiated messaging that conveys the unique vision and strategy for Funga’s solutions.

  • Sales Support: Partner closely with company leadership to align the buyer journey, develop customer-facing material that captures product value clearly and effectively, and determine pricing and packing for our offerings.

  • Product Insights and Voice of Sales: You'll need to develop a deep understanding of our solution, fueled by customer needs, buyer personas, and market trends. You'll educate internal and external stakeholders on our product features and their benefits, empowering our team’s understanding of our product and the markets we play in.

  • Voice of customer: You'll represent the voice of the market and customer, provide market analysis, build standardized personas, and conduct competitive analysis for product differentiation and positioning.

  • Build our Brand: You will create differentiated messaging to position Funga as a market leader for nature-based carbon removal solutions.

 

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • 3 - 5 years of product marketing experience including B2B marketing or sales

  • 2+ years of experience in forestry, nature-based climate solutions, or carbon markets preferred

  • Demonstrated experience in go-to-market planning and execution

  • Effective communicator, skilled presenter & growth-minded interpersonal skills

  • Proven track record of strong influencing and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong track record of working collaboratively on cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and initiatives

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills - this role will interact with customers as well as our internal science and business teams

  • Resourceful and self-motivated for this growth opportunity

  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and collaborative climate

  • Someone excited to lay the groundwork to scale product marketing and management in a fast-paced environment

  • Previous startup experience preferred (i.e. Series C or earlier)
